Teach from Serō

I'm so glad you are interested in teaching at Serō Pilates.

Serō is a latin verb which means "I link together" and just like Pilates is built on movements that are linked together, my studio is designed with the linking of teachers in mind.

I built the studio to be everything I wanted as a Pilates teacher, but the status quo of Pilates grind culture didn't seem to allow for. I want to change things and make the industry better for all of us, and I believe that means saying goodbye to working for studios that place profit over people and going it alone.

The studio space is available for fully comprehensively certified teachers to teach in person privates and semi-privates up to 4 people.

Use fees vary - for 50 minute non-exclusive use it is $36 an hour. For exclusive use it is $40 an hour. For events and workshops, use is $65 an hour.

Non-exclusive use is use that permits another instructor to be in the studio instructing at the same time. Private sessions and duet sessions are good examples of this.

Exclusive use is use that blocks another instructor from instructing in the studio at the same time. Semi-private classes are good examples of this as are private students who want the studio exclusively to themselves for a private session.

In order to use the space, you need to establish yourself as a sole proprietor or LLC, have your own liability insurance, and liability waivers in place for your clients to sign. In addition you need a Sunnyvale business license. Don’t worry about the business license until you decide to commit to using the studio. That’s the last step.

You bring in your own clients and you set your own hours during the available times. You process your own payments and handle your own scheduling. I want you to grow your small business, and I am happy to help as much as I can. What this means is if I have people reaching out to me and my schedule is full, I am happy to give people your contact information. I'm happy to brainstorm with you. I'm happy to talk about teaching and small business ownership. We are a community, we are not each other's competition!

I provide the equipment and props, as well as cleaning equipment for you to use - fresh microfiber towels to wipe down the equipment with after each session, spray bottles and cleaning solution, a vacuum for you to use at the end of your teaching block, etc. You will be listed under the instructors page on the studio website with your contact information and the link to your booking platform if applicable. I will also provide as much support as I can helping you set things up.

If you have been curious about what it’s like to work for yourself, but haven’t been sure where to start or unsure if you want to commit to a lease and the cost of buying equipment, teaching from Serō is a great option to explore.
